20th Mar 11 DTUK, I recently bought a CRD-T unit from you for use on my October 2010 Vauxhall Astravan 1.9 Sportive (120bhp). I have owned the van from new and it is my only vehicle, so i need it to be part work horse and part ‘day to day’ car. The van has now covered 9k miles. For the past three months i have been using an iPhone App called ‘Road Trip’ to record my fuel consumption in the van, so my records are accurate. In standard form the van has been giving me 44mpg over a mix of A roads, motorways and town driving, with varied loads. In terms of performance the Astravan has always been pretty reasonable, particularly for a van, but compared with a half decent car its always felt like i’ve been driving with the handbrake on. Last week, after taking advice from you over the phone, i ordered the CRD-T unit. True to your word it was delivered before 1pm the following day. I took my time to fit the unit and took very helpful advice from you over the phone as i was carrying out the installation, it took about 30 mins. I have left the unit in its ‘as supplied’ setting and have not felt the need to exploit it to its maximum potential. The van immediately felt smoother. The increase in power was obvious straight away and the van feels like it has been ‘unleashed’. I haven’t gone nuts with the van, but being honest i have been driving with a smile on my face, (it’s hard not to). Overtaking opportunities have opened up. If i have needed a bit of power, i haven’t had to thrash the van to get it, it’s just there. It doesn’t stop there. At motorway cruising speeds the rpm has reduced by about 200300 rpm. I can keep a higher gear at lower speeds in town without straining the engine and all of this has resulted in an increase of 2mpg without trying. (Not bad on my first tank of fuel since fitting it and trying it out). I know that i could be out there mixing it with performance cars if i wanted to, (and embarrassing many). I also know that i could be driving ‘Miss Daisy’ and reducing my fuel consumption even further, but neither of these scenario’s is ‘real life’. In real life, day to day driving, i have exceptionally more power available to me and i am reducing my day to day fuel costs, just what i wanted. If you choose to reproduce this, please feel free. I don’t normally do feedback or reviews. I am not connected with DTUK in any way, i don’t know anyone in the company and don’t even live in the same part of the country. I found the company and researched them on the internet. I deliberated the pro’s and con’s for ages, I had the same concerns as anyone else and I paid the going rate. With what i know now, i’d have no hesitation in dealing with DTUK again, they are extremely helpful and down to earth. Stuart Watson
