7th Jul 15 Recently took the S3 on a road trip over to Europe taking in Holland, Belgium & Germany with a group of guys in very capable motors, the S3 was one of the least powered on paper !! We completed over 1000 miles of driving, mainly with the accelerator pedal mashed into the carpet !! at licence loosing speeds in the UK Autobahns are great 🙂 I ran the car initially on 1 +2 on the first leg of the trip (into Holland & Belgium) and it performed very well I then opted to put the box into what I knew was a tried and tested 3 + 3 config for the rest of the journey as it was going to be quite hard on the car. The car performed very well, including a few laps around the Nordshleifeand then two track sessions on the Nurbergring GP circuit. The temperature was in the mid 30 degrees during our recent heat wave and this didn’t affect the car at all on the driving around day to day, or on the Nordshleife. On the GP circuit I did feel the car pulling back a little due to the ambient temperatures as it was close to 40 degrees !! However lots of cars were affected by thiswith it being so hot and just shows that the standard ECU protection is unaffected by the box. The S3 sill managed to perform very well and shocked some very capable cars over the two sessions ! The big grin came when a 14 plate RS3 stickered up with ABT badges (cant have been mapped though) pulled onto the circuit and I was sat on his back bumper around the track for multiple laps over the session, out accelerating him on the long straights, but him getting me under braking each timereally good fun ! He was very shocked at how quick the S3was and was not expecting it. The drive home was equally as fun with some long duration very high speed autobahn driving on the way back to the ferryagain the car was faultless with no issues. Overall MPG over the 1000 ish miles was a respectable 25.4 mpg which considering this took in some very quick driving, autobahns, the Nordshleife and two GP track sessions was very good !
