Astra Owners Network 29th Nov 13 So after driving around for a week with the system fitted to my car, i thought i’d pop on here to give my thoughts. I drove up to see the guys at DTUK on Wednesday last week, they fitted the system within five minutes and then it was time to take it out for the test drive. The weather was awful but that didn’t put me off testing it out! I took the car for a drive with the system set at the first setting and there was a noticeable difference in acceleration over the standard car, it was quicker but not as quick as I was expecting. Next it was time to step it up a notch and move to the +1 setting. I put my foot down in 2nd gear and wow! There was a big difference over the last setting, the car picked up really quickly in 2nd and 3rd gear and pulled a lot better. This is how the car should have been from standard! After testing +1 it was time to push it even further and try out the +2 setting. To be honest I didn’t really feel much difference over the +1 setting so decided to leave the box on +1 for the drive home. Unfortunately I couldn’t fully test it out on the way home as I had to battle with rush hour traffic and torrential rain on the A1 but i’ve been testing the car out on the roads back home and i’m very happy with the box. There is a noticeable difference over the standard car and the car feels a lot quicker. Without the box fitted, I really had to give the car some revs before it started to shift but now when I put my foot down it flies. I’m thinking about getting the car on a dyno to see what figures its producing with the box on. To anyone with the 1.6T who’s thinking about getting one…do it! You won’t regret it Oh forgot to add that my MPG is pretty much the same as it was pre-box which isn’t bad since i’ve been driving everywhere with a heavy foot!
