1st May 14 So after a long wait (like us all) I now have my new vRS and I have had it for a few weeks. Previously I had a mk2 vRS 170 DSG which my tuning box from DTUK was fitted to which was brilliant, see the review thread here: [url=http://www.briskoda.net/forums/topic/273668-buying-a-crd-t-tuning-box-from-dtuk/]http://www.briskoda….-box-from-dtuk/ So now I have my mk3 I sent the box back to Andrew who uploaded the latest software to, I know he has worked a bit on the map for the new cr184 and on the dyne the results were impresiveit is good that the figures are backed up by actual results! I have tried my box on my car now once the engine had been run in, I messed around with all the maps and settings and I have settled on 4.1 which is the setting Andrew had his box on when the 235bhp dyno result was achieved. In practice the box was easier to fit than on the CR170 engine due to the location of the boost pressure sensor (MAP), Andrew sent the new harness needed and it was fitted in around 5 mins securing all the cables neatly with 3 cable ties. On the road it is absolutely awesometorque is available early and is introduced swiftly but progressively, this should help the life of the clutch instead of bringing the torque in all in one go. The big difference between the box fitted to my mk2 and the new mk3 is the power further up the rev range 25004000 rpm, now the pull is relentless and doesn’t fade. I though the box fitted to the 170 felt good but this is definitely better (I suppose shown by the dyno results) As always Andrew has been helpful (as most people on here find he is) and my box was sent and returned to me quickly with the new harness required for the new engine. For those who want to know, the MPG readout will need correcting with VCDS. My testing (calculating it the old fashioned way vs indicated MPG) has indicated that for a accurate reading the adaptation in the instrument cluster needs changing from 100 to 112 with the box set at 4.1 To correct a std car with no mods for an accurate reading it needs to be set to 102. Brim to brim calculations show me averaging 53-55mpg with the box set at 4.1, I do do a medium amount of motorway driving. Normal journey to work shows 60mpg but my town driving during the weekend brings the average down 🙁 So to sum up235bhp, 505nm, 55mpg, £30 tax and super fun car to drive = very happy customer 🙂
