Audi-Sport.net 16th Dec 15 Guys, I got my DTUK box yesterday… ordered it through Andrew on Friday/Sat … he fedexed it to me here in Australia, and I got it within 3 days… so amazing service, all round. I have installed the box, as of last night…. I had the ABT Can-bus in my car for a week, as of a couple weeks back… so I think I am in a good position to comment/compare the too… Firstly, I am NOT a mechanically competent person… I have not endeavored to install any box or chip on my previous or current cars ( m3s, A45s, 1ms, M5s etc) … but after looking at the instructions and diagrams provided… it dawned on me ” Hey, this actually looks doable”. So I took my god knows what type of screw driver, pulled off the one engine cover, found the 3 sensors, which came off by hand… connected the looms, attached the OEMs into the provided loom covers and put the box between the airbox, fuse and headlight…where the instructions recommended… and there is room. Pres-tow! it worked … now theoretically on the DTUK box there are 3 maps x 7 sub maps… because you can add or remove boost on each map from setting +3 down to -3. Andrew Stressed that Map 1 is the only one I should worry about, and that the boost setting should be on zero…ie in between +1 and -1. I started off here. Firstly, in this map, the car is shitloads faster… unlike with the ABT box, where I felt like they were tricking me and applying some kind of “placebo effect”… this is VERY noticeable… but still linear. I then ( being the inquisitive child that I am) , decided…”Hey what would Andrew know, I am going to put this bad boy on map 1 +3 boost” …. well this is like unleashing the cracken …. it is not as linear… you can feel the boost spike ramp up far more aggressively, acceleration is savage… quicker in gear than my F30 M3 feels…and I would say the car would be producing well over 600nm in this form… my first instinct wasI will use this occasionally, but I’m not sure I want to expose the gearbox to that much torque and power. Bare in mind, all dynoing was just done on map 10 (zero boost settings) … and this through a figure of 347bhp at the wheels, up from 295ish stock… so id say 13 is more, with a truckload of torque. I am yet to do a Vbox run on it, but unlike the run I did with the ABT, where I got 3.9ish to 60mph… on my own, and 4.0 stock, with a passenger… I feel with the DTUK box this carassuming I have a clean launch is miles faster… 3.5 or less for sure. So, overall I am super happy, because a) its super easy to install… a moron could do it b) there are essentially 21 settings, and the box can be turned off… so functionality is excellent c) I can pull it out in 2 seconds d) the quality of the product and looms are excellent and essentially OEM d) at 5xx pounds… its super reasonable, price wise, and can be traded in for another DTE product, if I change this car etc…
